EMT is an acronym for Emergency Medical Technician. There are several different types of EMTs; not all types are recognized in every location.

EMT-B 
Basic EMT
EMT-A 
Advanced EMT
EMT-P 
Paramedic

It is believed that King County, Washington (the location of SPVSP) does not currently distinguish between EMT-B and EMT-A.
